October 9, 2026-- The Georgia Association of Conservation Districts (GACD) proudly congratulates longtime conservation leader John Redding on his induction into the National Conservation Foundation (NCF)-Envirothon Hall of Fame. Redding received this distinguished honor during the 2026 NCF-Envirothon International Competition in July at Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi.
The NCF-Envirothon Hall of Fame recognizes individuals whose leadership and dedication have made a lasting impact on the Envirothon program. Redding’s induction honors decades of service to conservation, education, and natural resource stewardship.
Redding served as chairman of the Walton County Conservation District for 31 years and held numerous leadership roles with the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD), including national president from 2008 to 2009. He has also been a longtime leader and supporter of GACD and the National Conservation Foundation.
As a former educator, Redding has been a strong advocate for conservation education and Envirothon’s role in developing future conservation leaders. During his service as treasurer of the NCF Board of Trustees, he helped guide Envirothon’s transition to an NCF program, supporting improvements that strengthened its operations.
A farmer and conservation advocate, Redding also puts conservation into practice on his own Georgia farm, incorporating soil and water conservation into cotton, peanut, and timber production.
Reflecting on the honor, Redding shared that his conservation work has always been driven by his love for the land and future generations. Referring to his granddaughter, Lucy, he said, “I do what I do because of my Lucy,” encouraging fellow conservation leaders to continue carrying the conservation mission forward.
GACD is proud to celebrate this well-deserved recognition of Redding’s lasting contributions to conservation in Georgia and beyond. Please join us in congratulating John Redding on this outstanding achievement and thanking him for his continued dedication to protecting our natural resources for future generations.
Congratulations, John!
