Marcelle Riviere Harris was born on August 31, 1955 in Greenwood, South Carolina. Marcelle was married to James “Jimmie” Harris, III in 1977 and they have enjoyed over 40 years together. They have two children a boy and a girl. In addition, Nicole and her husband Doug have been blessed them with two grandchildren. Marcelle attended Francis Marion University and graduated with honors in Biology and Chemistry. She went on to study ecology and zoology plus teach at Clemson University. Marcelle graduated with a teaching degree and she taught high school in South Carolina before she and her husband moved to Wrens, Georgia. She continued her teaching career in Jefferson County and retired in 2017. Retirement did not suit Marcelle, so she opted for a District Program Assistant (DPA) job with the Georgia Association of Conservation Districts. She is the DPA for both McDuffie and Warren Counties. Marcelle enjoys reading, kayaking, scuba diving, gardening, and horseback riding on her black quarter horse named Merlin at Midnight.
