Districts Award 2018 NRCW Scholarships

The Natural Resources Conservation Workshop is a week-long workshop sponsored by several organizations including the Georgia Association of Conservation Districts (GACD), Georgia Soil and Water Conservation Society and the Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. The workshop focuses on the value, protection and conservation of Georgia’s wildlife, soil, forestry and water resources. Each year students are given a comprehensive exam on the final day of the workshop and awarded scholarships range based on the sponsoring organization. Awards totaling over $17,000 were awarded to high school students in attendance to NRCW in June 2018. More information on NRCW HERE.

 

 

 GACD was the lead sponsor of this year's  Natural Resources Conservation Workshop ! We provided a $6,500 scholarship to the highest scoring individual.  The GACD Scholarship winner for 2018 is Rhys Medcalfe! Rhys is a rising Junior at  John S. Davidson Fine Arts Magnet School  in Augusta, GA. Pictured with Rhys is GACD President Woody Snell.

 Victoria Edmunds, a rising 12th-grade student at Rockdale County High School, was the recipient of the $500 Flint River Soil and Water Conservation District Scholarship.  Victoria's registration to NRCW was sponsored by the Rockdale County Soil and Water Conservation District. Pictured with Victoria is NRCW Director Luke Crosson.

 Rachel Ibbetson was the recipient of the $1000 West Georgia Soil & Water Conservation District Scholarship. A special thank you to  Haralson County, Georgia Farm Bureau Insurance  for sponsoring this scholarship.  Rachel is an upcoming junior at  Haralson County High School !
